Description:  Inflammatory Pulmonary Disease (IPD) is an inherited form of recurrent pneumonia in Collies. IPD has a similar clinical presentation as primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD). Typical clinical signs: recurrent foamy vomiting, shallow breathing, coughing, increased breathing sounds, nasal discharge, and fever. Clinical signs can start at a few days of age. Therapy: Dogs usually respond to therapy with antibiotics and secretolytics but usually a relapse occurs quickly.

 

Inheritance: autosomal recessive

 

Mutation: c.2717_2720delACAG in AKNA gene

 

Sample: EDTA whole blood (1.0 ml) or 2 buccal brushes. For official purposes, the confirmation of the dog’s identity by Veterinarian is recommended.

 

The analysis is suitable for the following breeds: Rough Collie, Smooth Collie
